3 days in the Altiplano

Last week I was on a 3 day field trip for work to the Altiplano region of Guatemala.  We spent the first day in the department (state) of Quetzaltenango visiting carpentry and furniture workshops.

On the morning of the second day we visited a women’s cooperative that makes jewelry and dolls in San Francisco El Alto,Totonicapan.

In the afternoon we visited greenhouses for a forest reforestation project.

The last day we went to the scared Mayan site, Laguna de Chicabal, a crater volcano lake, often covered by clouds in the department of Quetzaltenango.
