I really wanted to climb Cotopaxi, but with only 36 hours to acclimatize in Quito before hiking, Cotopaxi was not going to be a viable option. I decided to hike Illinizas Norte, with a summit of 16,818ft, instead. There's some ice at the top of Norte, but nothing that requires technical gear, though the last bit to reach the summit is mainly rock scramble/climbing. It was cold, I was not properly acclimatized, but it was well worth it and the hike was beautiful.
Cotopaxi
Summit. 16,818ft. Too bad you couldn't see anything through all the clouds.
Picked up a few rocks on the way down
