Peru - Cusco, Pisac, and Machu Picchu

After a quick overnight in Uyuni, I flew back up to La Paz and then on to Cusco to continue part 2 of my trip.   Had great views of Lake Titicaca during the flight.

Wednesday I headed to Pisac, a small town in the Scared Valley with an archeological site by the same name.  Got held up on the highway a little since there were elementary school kids protesting for Environment Day.

Thursday I took a micro to Ollantaytambo, followed by the train to Aguascalientes, quick over night in Aguas and then was at the entrance to MP at 6am.  Unfortunately, there wasn’t much of a sunrise that morning, it more or less just got light, but it was still nice to be there before all the crowds started to come in.  By the time that was happening, I was climbing my way up Hyuna Picchu, the peak behind MP, and then followed the trail over to the Temple of the Moon.  Trying to make up for the fact that I didn’t hike the Inca trail to get there, I then also did the hike to the Sun Gate and part of the Bridge hike before walking back down to Aguascalientes and catching the train back to Ollanta.
