Saturday I took a day trip to Volcan Ipala, in the southeast corner of Guatemala, not too far from the border with El Salvador and Honduras. Ipala is a fairly small volcano, only 1650 meters high, but has a crater lake and small cloud forest at the top. From Ipala you have great views of the nearby Quetzaltepeque Volcano. Ipala is a natural protected area run by CONAP, the equivalent of the National Park Service in Guatemala.

Wonderful clouds and a volcano! So glad that you landed in one piece, and hope that the New Year is full of peace, joy and pix. xxx Julie
